My love affair with Paris began in 2000. It was my first trip abroad and it has filled my mind with wonderful memories to this day. I traveled there again recently and found even more to treasure. If a trip to Paris, France is in your future this list will help you discover how to play, shop and eat in the city of lights.
Play
Museums, parks and free historical sites abound in Paris. Here are my picks for where to play and stay: Where to Stay in Paris Plus Museums and Parks.
Shop
Hands down these are my favorite stores in Paris: Merci (pictured above, I bought picnic items there). Merci is a new concept store with vintage clothing, homewares, furniture and books in Paris by the former owners of Bonpoint (for children). Dehillerin is a well-known affordable kitchen supply store (I bought a pizza dough roller, kitchen scissors and a biscuit cutter there). Repetto is a busy, yet beautiful store to visit and it is all about handmade ballet shoes and ballet flats plus dance apparel (I bought a pair of shiny patent leather gray ballet flats there from their limited edition line, it was spendy but I'm glad I did as they sell fast and they are once in a lifetime shoes to own; you can buy a pair of Repetto ballet flats in the States for a bit more here). Gaelle Barre has beautiful handmade dresses for women and adorable clothing for children (I bought a couple things off her sale rack including this dress and this skirt; find your own special piece from her on Gaelle Barre's sale blog). The Collection is a home décor store with unique designers (and I met the lovely owner and bought several picnic and lunch box items from her). And check out the curiousity shop Zut!
Eat
Paris is the land of baguettes and crepes, cheese and wine and bakery sweets. Check out my picks in: Best Places to Eat in Paris.

Great post! I feel this way about Buenos Aires. :)
Love this post! Do more of them.
I too fell in love with Paris many years ago and moved here last year. I well understand how you feel! I will definitely take a closer look at the shops you mentioned (Merci is a favorite of mine too) and the restos...
