Paris Travel Tips

Photos: Oh Joy!

Home sweet home! Thanks to all who followed my adventures in France (including my quick jaunts to London and Brussels) the past few weeks. I wanted to share with you some sites I found helpful in the weeks leading up to my vacation:

France on the Cheap

Top Free Things to Do in Paris

Free Days in Paris (by National Geographic)

Hip Paris Blog

Tongue in Cheek (fun Paris blog) her favorite restaurants in Paris.

The Bonjour Paris site is a wealth of helpful information.

VINGT Paris Magazine offers information about the arts.

Another Paris Guide from Design Sponge.

Not Martha Blog (her Paris trip had great tips about exchanging money, appliance converters and more.) Note: I only needed a motorized appliance converter for charging my small appliances like an electric razor, camera battery and cellphone. If you use heating appliances such as a hair dryer or curling iron you need a different converter. Learn what voltage you need with CNN's Guide to Converters.

If you plan to take the Eurostar train to London or Brussels (like we did) or other parts of France book your tickets as soon as seats are released for your travel dates. That way you get the best rate before they sell out. Note: You can't book tickets more than 120 days out from your trip.

There are fun bike tours you can do in Paris too. Or just hop on a Velib bike (very popular to use in the city).

And if you are in Paris for a long stay and want to meet other people from France, Patricia Laplante-Collins created Paris Soirees Dinners on Sundays and Paris Networking Cocktail events on the Ile St Louis to bring Americans in Paris together with French locals in a global meetup.

Have a lovely weekend, I'll be adjusting back to U.S. time. And next week I hope to share some photos and stories from my trip!

The free walking tour of Paris was absolutely amazing! We had Onno as our guide by privatetoursinistanbul, he was knowledgeable about the history, answered all our questions and had a real passion for his job. We are a couple in our early 20s and this was probably our best day in Paris. We got a great back story on all the monuments and it just made seeing them in depth the next day so much more interesting. Its a free tour, Onno worked very hard and we were very pleased with how great it was. Well worth our time. He even ended it at a great authentic French restaurant, that was a great deal and so tastey. We loved it so much, that we did the Montmartre the next night. We got Onno again! Go at night!! He will show you an amazing view of the Sacre Coeur that tourist never see! So amazing and a nice glass of wine at the end. Onno even made sure everyone knew where they were headed at the end of the night, and gave us great directions to the airport for early flight the next day www.privatetoursinistanbul.com Thank you so much that provide this service to us,made our trip really great.

I took this tour on my first day in Paris. Even thought I've been to Paris before I couldn't help feeling that I wasn't really seeing all there was to see so I booked a Tourby Locals with Susanne V. She picked me up right at my hotel and off we went for the day to discover Paris...
